Python AI Tutor is a new Python learning platform that combines hands-on programming, understanding checks, and artificial intelligence. The goal is not simply to write code that works, but to understand how and why it works.
Today, writing a few lines of code is easier than ever. With AI tools, we can generate functions, identify errors, and even build entire applications.
But there is an important question: do we truly understand the code we write or receive from artificial intelligence?
That question is exactly where Python AI Tutor began.
From Learning Syntax to Understanding Programming
Traditional programming education often focuses on watching lessons, repeating examples, and completing exercises. This can be a useful starting point, but there is a significant difference between recognizing a familiar example and independently explaining how a program works.
Python AI Tutor takes a different approach: every new concept should be understood, explored, and applied.
Our learning process brings together several important steps:
- Explore a concept — discover what a particular Python feature does and when to use it.
- Study an example — understand how the concept works in actual code.
- Experiment — change the code, run it, and observe the results.
- Check your understanding — answer questions that help reveal whether you truly understand what you have learned.
- Track your progress — move forward with a clearer picture of your knowledge.
The objective is not simply to complete a lesson. It is to develop a way of thinking that makes independent problem-solving possible.
Meet Sloby, Your AI Mentor
One of the most important parts of the platform is Sloby, an AI mentor designed to support the learning process.
Sloby is not intended to automatically provide a finished solution to every problem. Instead, the mentor helps learners understand challenges, recognize mistakes, and work toward answers independently.
When you get stuck, you can ask a question, request an explanation, or ask Sloby to review your code.
Sometimes, the most useful question a mentor can ask is a simple one: "What do you think will happen if you change this value?"
Questions like this encourage curiosity, experimentation, and the development of programming logic.
Level One: Python Foundations
We are starting with L1 — Python Foundations, the first level of the learning journey.
It currently includes 22 concepts organized into five modules:
- Python Fundamentals — variables, data types, operators, conditions, and loops.
- Collections — lists, tuples, sets, dictionaries, and working with groups of data.
- Functions — defining functions, parameters, return values, and variable scope.
- Working with Data — strings, files, JSON, and error handling.
- Mini Projects — practical challenges that combine previously learned skills.
From your first variables to more advanced data structures, each step builds on the knowledge developed earlier.
The platform also includes practical project challenges, such as a student manager, a personal expense tracker, and a quiz game.
You Don't Need to Know Everything Before You Begin
Python AI Tutor is primarily designed for people who want to start programming. It can also help learners who already know the basics and want to test how well they truly understand them.
This approach is especially relevant at a time when artificial intelligence is becoming increasingly involved in software development.
AI can write code. However, understanding a problem, evaluating a suggested solution, and making informed decisions remain essential skills.
That is why we believe learning programming has not become less important with the rise of AI tools. On the contrary, learning how to think about code, rather than simply produce it, has become even more valuable.
A Platform That Will Continue to Grow
Python Foundations is only the beginning.
Two additional learning levels are planned:
L2 — Intermediate Python & Object-Oriented Programming, focused on more advanced programming structures and organizing code.
L3 — Web Development, connecting Python knowledge with the practical development of web applications.
Both levels are currently in preparation.
We are building Python AI Tutor as a learning platform that will continue to expand with new content, exercises, and opportunities for practical programming.
Start with Your First Line of Code
On World Coding Day, we are introducing Python AI Tutor as a new educational project within IT Komuna.
The first level is available to explore. Learners can create an account, start learning, and track their progress.
You don't need to build a large application on your first day. You don't need to know all the answers.
All you need is to start with one concept, experiment with a few lines of code, and ask the right question.
The first line is a start. Understanding changes everything.
